DAVID SEAMAN has revealed he once had a condom full of urine and a DART thrown at him during a game in the aftermath of Steve Bruce’s cabbage incident at Villa Park.
Bruce had the piece of veg lobbed his way by a disgruntled fan as the side squandered a two goal advantage to end up drawing 3-3 with lowly Preston in a result that got him the sack.
Former Man United defender Bruce, who got on Wednesday following a poor run of form, later described the act as disgraceful, and said: “It sums up the society we are in at the moment – there’s no respect for anyone.”
But ex-Arsenal shot-stopper Seaman says Bruce got off lightly – and admits he could have been seriously injured on several occasions during his playing days.
Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “I’ve had all sorts thrown at me.
“Condoms full of urine, bottles full of urine, fireworks, rocks, loads of coins…
“But the worst thing that’s ever been thrown at me was a dart.
“I was substitute for England, and while I was warming up a yellow dart with a full on metal point went over my shoulder and landed in the goal mouth.
“It literally just missed me. We did the rest of the warm up in the middle of the pitch!”

Former Wales striker Dean Saunders also weighed in with a tale of an equally bizarre missile launched his way on the pitch.
He said: “I had an inflatable sheep thrown at me once… I didn’t fancy it so I threw it straight back!”
