ARSENAL fans went into meltdown after David Seaman admitted he wants bitter rivals Tottenham to win the Champions League.

Spurs secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the competition after an impressive 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

But legendary Arsenal goalkeeper Seaman ruffled a few feathers when he admitted he wants Tottenham to lift the trophy.

When asked about their chances of winning it, he told talkSPORT: “I know, that’d be ace, wouldn’t it!

“No seriously, I swear, I would want them to win.

“If they were in a final against a foreign team I would want Tottenham to beat them, no doubt about that.

“Say Tottenham were playing Bayern Munich, Barcelona, whoever – I would want the English team to win.”

Seaman made 564 appearances for the Gunners during his 13 year spell in North London from 1990 until 2003.

But his legendary status was questioned by some fans after his controversial comments.

One Twitter user said: “I’m pretty sure David Seaman was trying to enhance his broadcasting image. There’s no way he actually believes everything he said on #talkSPORT.”

Another added: “David Seaman now wants Spurs to win the Champions League. Only Arsenal has club legends who don’t support the club.”

Spurs winning the competition could also lead to Arsenal missing out on Champions League football next season – even if they finish fourth in the league.
